I found this book interesting, good but not great.

I think Bova does an excellent job with the science/tech and how humanity would have to deal with the truly long voyage to Mars. He even does a semi decent job with the characters. However outside of the main character it seems not enough detail is given to the rest of the novel's cast. Many of the plot points started early in the book simply go nowhere. If a plot point doesn't get resolved why bring it up in the first place? The ending is fairly dramatic and leaves room for a nice sequel (which I believe has been written).
