'As Twilight Falls' by Amaznda Ashley is the story of Kadie Andrews and Rylan Saintcrow. I actually was reading another book called "Twilight Dreams" that had Kadie and Rylan in there as secondary characters. I was halfway through that book when I just kept thinking I really want to read Rylan and Kadie book too. So I found this one 'As Twilight Falls' with their story. I was not disappointed at all. I enjoyed this book just as I thought I would!
Kadie is a photographer that happen to take a wrong turn and ended up in Rylan's 'ghost town' that host a few vampires and humans who they feed off of. Rylan has actually been underground for about 30 years when he 'smells' Kadie in his town. Rylan can't resist her and quickly takes her to is house. There Kadie starts to have feeling for him and she ends up making him more 'feeling' with other people treatment. So if you like a tough heroine with a tough guy hero that is all soft inside for his women...then this one is for you! Truly enjoyed this book and was happy to get back to my other book 'Twilight Dreams' and finished reading that one also. Both were great.

Rylan, a master vampire set up a "cursed" town and kidnapped several women (and a few men) to be used as food for a coven of vampires residing in his town. Some of these vampires were VERY cruel while feeding. While reading this book all I could think of was the sick freak in Cleveland who kept all those girls hostage for ten years. Now imagine a heroine who loved that sick freak. That's what the heroine Kadie in this book did. True Rylan was a much better looking and sexier freak, and provided decent housing & food, but what does that matter to the poor women who were stolen from their husbands, parents, and children for 10 and 20 yrs? There was one woman who was kept there for 40 years! The way the heroine fell madly in love with Rylan in 2 weeks and the way she defended him to those poor town folks or "sheep" as the vampires called them was way too sickening for me to believe this as a love story, much less for me to like the hero. Sure he was good to Kadie, allowing her to call her family and allowing her to see them after only a little over a month. What about all the other women? Most of them were mothers left to wonder how their children were doing growing up without them. Sure Kadie would feel guilty and think to herself "how can I love such a monster?" as she left her room to go into his bed every night. Yuck! Sorry, this book would have made a much better horror story than romance imo.
This was a very different take on the vampire. I was not sure if this was a happy or depressing story but the more I read, the better the story became. It was a good book and of course, had a happy ending. It took time to build the story and characters and that was a lovely change . So many books are so shallow and seem quickly thrown together without a lot of thought. I will now look to see if there is a second book to this series....
This is the story about Claire Andrews. Oh, did I say Claire. I'm sorry, I meant Kadie. She is a photographer who visits ghost towns and gets lost on the way to one. She ends up in the ghost like town of Morganville. Oh, did I say Morganville. I'm sorry, I meant Morgan Creek. Needless to say the story is reminiscent of Morganville Vampire. But that ends with the premise. After the setup it goes on to be a pretty good book, with a bow tie ending, and a great story. Good enough for me to want to write a review. Great job Ms. Ashley.
I haven't read PNR for awhile but I'm so glad I grabbed this book! I'm definitely going to read the rest in the series. I absolutely adore these characters. This was a non stop read for me I couldn't imagine putting it down. I had to know what came next!
READ THIS IN TWO NITES. I HAD THE FLU SO WAS TOO SICK TO READ AS I WANTED. I LOVED RYLAN AND KADIE. THE SETUP OF THEIR STORY WAS DIFFERENT AND INTERESTING. I HAVE NOT READ OF A VAMPIRE VILLIAGE BEFORE. IT WAS MUCH APPRECIATED AND I ENJOY THE WAY SHE USES HER ROMANCE BETWEEN THE PEOPLE. IF YOU WANT RAW SEX UNTIL YOU CAN'T TURN A PAGE WITHOUT IT RUNNING INTO IT, READ ANOTHER AUTHOR. THERE ARE MANY TO CHOOSE FROM AND AMANDA ASHLEY HAPPENS TO BE MY FAVORITE VAMPIRE WRITER. PLEASE KEEP THEM COMING MANDY AND I WILL BE VERY HAPPY TO READ EACH AND EVERYONE. JUST LOVE YOUR BOOKS....

For those that know me when I do a review I do not give any spoiler alerts I will say this story was pretty darn good at one point I was laughing hysterically and then another point I was crying but then a couple page later I was smiling again and now I'm going to read the next one I recommend you pick this book up and read it
Saintcrow is an over 900 year old vampire with a town deep into Wyoming. Kadie stumbled upon the town during her ghost town hopping for her article. However, upon crossing the bridge, she unsuspectingly trapped herself inside. Saintcrow had placed wards on the town that although you may enter it you won't be able to leave. Inside of the ghost town is a tiny community of vampires and humans cohabiting, and I use the cohabiting term lightly. In reality the humans are the unsuspecting people who got stuck in town and have become food for the vampires living there. Kadie initially met with the "caretaker" of the town, another vampire, who eventually, wanted her to be his. But, when Kadie came to town Saintcrow awoke from his 30+ years of slumber and claimed kadie instead.

I gave it a 4 star because it was a story with action, love, and despair. The author didn't keep you wondering what the characters meant in their discussion. The love developed was gradual and it can be seen and felt. Not a you meet, sex, and now am in love in a matter of 1-2 chapters. I didn't think there were just fill-in chapters, nor did it feel rushed. I would recommend it if your and individual who likes paranormal romance with good sex scene and fighting action between vampire vs. Humans.
